Bronte Beach Backpackers’ Christmas 2025: Ultimate Guide for the Orphan’s Christmas Celebration
Bronte Beach will once again play host to the famous Backpackers’ Christmas Day gathering on Thursday, December 25, 2025. Waverley Council has voted to continue this free, informal “Orphan’s Christmas” celebration for another year, ensuring backpackers and locals alike can join in the holiday spirit on the sand . In 2024, an estimated 15,000 mostly young international travellers flocked to Bronte Beach, prompting the Council to allocate over AUD 135,000 for waste-management and security measures—approximately AUD 60,000 for post-event cleanup and AUD 75,000 for extra policing and ranger patrols . Drawing on lessons from that year, Council will again deploy additional waste bins, portable toilets, and roving security and ranger patrols to keep the beach safe and clean on Christmas Day .
